The Need

This program is created in response to the articulated need for a high-calibre and cost-effective leadership development course for emerging leaders in the public sector.

Program Overview

The purpose of this certificate program is to encourage and prepare participants to advance into more senior leadership roles in their organization.

The program is delivered in partnership with the Smith School of Business at Queen's University.

The program content is specifically tailored to build the leadership skills required by today's emerging leaders.

The program is fully aligned with the vision and principles of the Ontario Public Service Leadership Strategy.

Participants who complete the course may wish to consider the Public Sector Executive Leadership Institute (PSELI) which supports senior executives in government and in public sector agencies.

Building Leadership Skills for Tomorrow

This certificate program is designed to encourage and prepare participants to advance into more senior leadership roles. The program content is specifically tailored to build the leadership skills required by today's emerging leaders.

Learning Architecture

The Development and Success for Promising Leaders program offers experiential learning opportunities in a hybrid learning environment, through a blend of in-person and online sessions.

Major content sessions employ hands-on learning, led by university professors skilled in leadership development.

This course is offered in partnership with Queen's University.

Participants will:

  • Meet on the university campus of Queen's University on Front Street West in Toronto for in-person sessions
  • Learn from professors on topics related to fiscal responsibility, managing change, accountability for results, etc.
  • Develop an understanding of key leadership concepts
  • Be introduced to the practices of mindful leadership

  • Financial literacy for senior managers

Course Format

This course consists of four modules, three of which are in-person. The fourth module comprises four half-day online sessions, spread over three months.

Certification

Graduates of this course receive a certificate jointly signed by Veronica Lacey and Queen's University.
